Open Positions

 

Water/ Wastewater Design Engineer / Project Manager

 Locations: Portland, Oregon; Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento, Camarillo, San Diego and San Luis Obispo

Position responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to advance WSC’s water, wastewater and recycled water design expertise, and contribute to the direction of existing and future projects with our clients and technical professionals. This position requires serving as a Project Manager and/or Lead Engineer for all phases and aspects of water and/or wastewater treatment and recycled water projects including: planning, preliminary design, process modeling, value engineering, detailed design, construction services and commissioning.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to successful design of medium- to large-scale water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, accompanied by a strong understanding of the various treatment processes and regulatory requirements. Requires water, wastewater and/or recycled water design and project management experience including development and oversight of scope, budget, and schedule.

Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Proven management of successful project performance that achieve clients’ goals, including cost-effective, sustainable, energy-efficient, operator-friendly and innovative valuable outcomes.
  • Demonstration of achieving and defining project goals and requirements.
  • Experience with wastewater treatment process modeling software programs such as BioWin or GPS-X preferred
  • Active participant in related professional associations, preferred, and knowledge of the latest industry treatment trends, required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing proposals and presentations, technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents.
  • Project workshop leadership, facilitation of alternatives analysis evaluation and decision making.
  • Development of sustainable solutions and alternative project delivery methods a plus.
  • Proven ability to serve as an effective client service manager and demonstrate responsiveness, clear communication, quality delivery, effective listening and problem solving skills.
  • Strong desire and previous experience mentoring entry-level professionals.

Registration / Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field required; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • P.E. registration in California or Oregon, proficient with MS Office, exemplary written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in planning, design and construction services of water, wastewater and recycled water facilities.

 

Senior Level Civil/Environmental Engineer

Location: Portland, Oregon; Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento, San Diego and San Luis Obispo

 As a Senior Engineer, you will be both a key leader and a valuable contributor to WSC.  You will lead important marketing pursuits, be responsible for delivering complex technical projects, and engage in business management supporting staff development and strategic growth.  Your duties will include: project and client management; review of work products prepared by junior engineers; design of water and wastewater infrastructure; modeling of water resources, water delivery systems and/or wastewater collection systems; preparation of hydraulic calculations and reports; research and technical writing; site visits and coordination with subconsultants, vendors and clients; analysis of water resources management strategies; program and construction management support; and review and development of environmental compliance and permitting strategies.  You will be expected to take ownership for entire project performance, including quality, budget, schedule and client relations.

Senior level engineers at WSC are also expected to contribute to the operations of the business, and you will be provided with opportunities to lead initiatives and strategies that further our vision and mission. Requirements: M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, P.E. registration in California or Oregon, proficient with MS Office, exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated project management skills and technical experience leading planning, studies, preliminary design and design projects in water and/or wastewater treatment and infrastructure. Experience in sustainable solutions and alternative project delivery methods a plus.

 

Professional Hydrogeologist

Location: Portland, Oregon; Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento, San Diego and San Luis Obispo

Applicants should be ready to jump in and apply their expertise towards new and on-going projects. As a WSC professional, you will be expected to produce high quality work, support our engineering teams, and provide superior client services. Your duties may include: tracking groundwater levels, pumping impacts and groundwater movement; quantifying groundwater storage and potential sustainable yield based on well logs, geographical data, groundwater level information and flow models; computer modeling groundwater flow, surface water/groundwater interaction and man-made influence; completing Water Supply and Environmental Assessments; maintaining up to date knowledge of groundwater regulations, compliance and permitting; and assisting agencies with the formation of GSAs and the development of GSPs as required under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.

Requirements: M.S. in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Related Field, Professional Hydrogeologist certification, Proficient with MS Office, Professional Hydrogeology certification, Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in related field, experience with ArcGIS, Modflow, and other modeling and data visualization software.

 

Hydrologist

Location: Portland, Oregon; Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento, San Diego and San Luis Obispo

Candidates must be ready to apply their knowledge towards a variety of projects and teams, with the goal of enhancing customer experience and satisfaction. As a member of our WSC team, you will grow and challenge yourself through the professional support of our project teams and clients. Your duties may include: water resource planning; using watershed models to quantify run-off potential; hydraulic modeling of surface water systems; analyzing the impact of environmental changes on precipitation, storm flows, and water resource systems; performing flood risk assessments and developing mitigation and restoration plans; auditing and analyzing water resource systems and performing Water Availability Analysis; and acting as project manager for the technical management of water resource planning, watershed sustainability ,reservoir and river flood risk assessment, water quality and drainage.

Requirements: M.S. in Hydrology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Related Field, Proficient with MS Office, Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills.

Preferred Qualifications: M.S. or PhD in related field, Professional Hydrologist or Hydrogeologist certification, proficient with ArcGIS and/or hydraulic modeling and data visualization software platforms, possession of Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) and Developer (QSD) Certifications.

 

Entry Level Civil/Environmental Engineers

Locations: Portland, Oregon; Rancho Cucamonga, Sacramento, Camarillo, San Diego and San Luis Obispo
