Bear Valley Water Sustainability Outreach

Multiple Agencies, CA

WSC is working with Big Bear Valley agencies to build awareness and support of water reuse among a broad group of stakeholders. WSC has worked with regional partners in Big Bear Valley to identify water quality and supply solutions to protect habitat and endangered species, maintain thriving recreational opportunities for a popular tourist area, and provide a sustainable drinking water supply. Strategic communications and outreach has been the bridge to align stakeholders and gain the support needed to implement the innovative recycled water solution. WSC’s efforts to foster support and funding helped educate officials at regional, state, and federal agencies, including the Energy and Water Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations. WSC’s team carefully assessed audience perspectives, conducted interviews, and worked alongside technical teams, including scientists from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and agency engineering leaders, to quantify impacts and create concise information graphics to demonstrate complex benefits and results to multiple audiences.
Our communications efforts, backed by correct and timely data, allowed the partner agencies to pursue nearly $10 million in grants and low interest loans toward the program to date.
