S Northwood Avenue Water Main Replacement

Park Water Company

WSC is preparing design plans for a pipeline replacement project in S Northwood Avenue area of Park Water Company’s Compton West System. The project area is currently served by approximately 10,000 feet of existing 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch AC water mains that were installed in the 1940’s.  The existing mains are aging, leaking and difficult to repair due to their locations in inaccessible backyard easements and Park Water Company has prioritized their replacement as part of their Asset Management plan.  WSC’s design includes 4,150 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron pipeline and 7,600 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron pipeline located in public right-of-way.  The design includes installation of 38 new fire hydrants and will improve fire flow and fire protection coverage for the area.  The existing mains and services will be abandoned and WSC’s design of the critical connections to the existing system gives consideration to minimize service interruptions during construction and facilitate future replacement of adjacent pipelines.
