S Amantha Avenue 8-inch and 12-inch Water Main Replacement

Park Water Company

WSC is prepared design plans for a pipeline replacement project in the S Amantha Avenue area of Park Water Company’s Compton West System.  The project area serves approximately 6,300 feet of existing 4-inch, 8-inch and 12-inch cast iron water mains that were installed in the 1940’s.  The existing mains were aging, leaking and difficult to repair due to their locations in inaccessible backyard easements and Park Water Company prioritized their replacement as part of their Asset Management plan.  WSC’s design included 2,500 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron pipeline and 5,600 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron pipeline and 194 new customer services located in public right-of-way.  The project also added looped pipeline connections to improve the fire flow capabilities of the water system and included numerous additional fire hydrants to meet spacing requirements.  The existing backyard mains and services were abandoned.  WSC’s design of the connections to the existing system minimized service interruptions during construction and facilitated future replacement of adjacent pipelines as Park Water Company continues to improve their water system.
